Privacy Policy

What GateIQ collects when you use the app or website to open and manage a gate, or join our list, and what we do with it.

Effective October 6, 2026

Who we are

GateIQ is made by Morris Labs LLC, a North Carolina company. GateIQ is an iPhone app and a website that let people open and manage a gate fitted with a GateIQ controller. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Morris Labs LLC, and "you" means anyone who uses the GateIQ app or website.

Most people are added to a gate by the gate's admin or by the installer who set it up. That person decides who has access; we run the service that makes it work.

What we collect

Your account
Your phone number, which you use to sign in with a code we text you. Your name, as you, your gate's admin or your installer entered it. If you add a web login, your email address. Your password is handled by Google's sign-in service and we never see it.
Your gate access
Which gates you can use, your role on each one (such as admin, member or resident), and any days or hours an admin set for your access.
Gate activity
When a gate opens and closes, and who or what opened it: someone in the app, a remote, a keypad code, a schedule or a guest pass.
Remotes, codes and passes
The remote numbers and keypad codes set up for a gate and who they belong to, and the names and time limits of guest passes.
Gate details
The gate's name, the street address entered when it was set up, its time zone, and its schedules and special days.
The gate controller
Whether the controller is online, its Wi-Fi signal strength and its software version, so the app can show whether the gate is working. The Wi-Fi password entered during setup goes straight to the controller at the gate. We don't keep it in our systems.
Notifications
A code from Apple that lets us send alerts to your phone, and which alerts you have turned on.
Location
Only when you tap "Use My Location" to fill in a gate's address. Your phone looks up the street address, and we save the address you choose, not your location. GateIQ never follows your location in the background.
Face ID and key tags
Face ID checks happen on your phone, and nothing from them is sent to us. When an admin holds a key tag to the phone to add it to a gate, the tag's number is saved like a remote number.

We don't use advertising or analytics tools in the app or on the website, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How we use it

  • To sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • To open your gate when you ask, and to send your gate's schedules and access list to its controller.
  • To show a gate's status and history to the people allowed to see them.
  • To send the alerts you have turned on.
  • To help you when you contact us, and to find and fix problems.
  • To prevent misuse, such as someone guessing guest pass links.

We never sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who can see it

  • The people who manage your gate — its admins, its members and the installer who set it up — can see who has access to that gate and its activity history. Admins and members can also see the remotes and keypad codes set up for it.
  • Other people on the same gate see only what their role allows. For example, a resident can see the guest passes they sent, but not other people's.
  • A visitor with a guest pass sees the gate's name, the name of the person who sent the pass, and whether the pass and the gate are working. They never see your schedule or anyone else's details.
  • We can see account and gate information when we need to run the service, fix a problem or help you.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people or property.

Companies that help us run GateIQ

A few companies handle information for us to make GateIQ work. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

  • Google (Firebase) — sign-in and text message codes, our database, the behind-the-scenes code that runs GateIQ, notifications and this website.
  • Amazon Web Services — delivering commands to gate controllers over the internet.
  • Apple — delivering notifications to iPhones, and looking up a street address when you tap "Use My Location."

Our service is run in the United States.

How long we keep it

  • Your account information stays until you delete your account.
  • A gate's activity history stays for as long as the gate is set up in GateIQ, and is deleted when the gate is removed.
  • Records of individual open and close commands are deleted after 7 days.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings and tap Delete My Account at the bottom. If you can't reach Settings, tap the account button at the top of the screen. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.

What happens when you delete your account

  • Your sign-in, profile, gate access, alert settings and web login are deleted.
  • Your name is removed from gate history. The events stay, so a gate's admin can still see that the gate opened, but they show "Former user" instead of your name.
  • Guest passes and invite codes you made that haven't been used are cancelled.
  • Remotes and keypad codes that were assigned to you are switched off. The gate itself stops accepting them the next time someone opens the GateIQ app on the same Wi-Fi as the gate. On a gate where you're the only admin they keep working, because nobody would be left to switch them back on.
  • If you're the only admin of a gate, the gate keeps working, but nobody can manage it in the app until your installer sets up a new admin. The app warns you before you confirm.

Deleting your account can't be undone. If you sign in again later with the same phone number, you start with a new, empty account.

Children

GateIQ isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

Information travels between your phone, our service and your gate over encrypted connections, and each person can only reach what their role on a gate allows. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and fix problems quickly.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information in a significant way, we'll also tell you in the app.

If you join our list

Anyone can join our list at gateiqaccess.com/join to hear about GateIQ. This is separate from using the app or the website to run a gate.

What we keep
Your name, email, phone if you give it, ZIP code, the kind of gate, whether you ticked "first installs", any note, which link brought you, and when you signed up.
Why
To tell you about GateIQ and, if you ask, to arrange an install.
Who sees it
Us, and your local GateIQ installer so they can reach you. We never sell it and never use it for ads.
How long
Until you ask to come off the list, or we close the list.
How to come off
Email mygateiq@gmail.com and we'll remove you.
